Description
The Florida Division of Emergency Management’s Individual Assistance Program coordinates assistance for individuals, households, and businesses recovering from disaster or emergency impacts. Following a presidential disaster declaration, outreach and press releases inform affected residents and businesses about available programs and help connect them with aid to which they may be entitled.
The program brings together FEMA and representatives of federal, state, local, and volunteer organizations. After initial registration, survivors may receive further assistance through Disaster Recovery Centers established in declared counties or regionally. The program also connects survivors with mental health resources and organizations addressing unmet needs, including needs that remain after insurance, government assistance, and personal resources have been exhausted.
