Description
The Individual Assistance Program, administered by the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), delivers support to individuals, households, and businesses in Florida affected by major disasters or emergencies. The program is activated following a presidential disaster declaration and is designed to help survivors recover by facilitating access to a range of federal, state, local, and nonprofit assistance resources. Aid may include financial assistance for temporary housing, home repairs, personal property replacement, medical and dental expenses, and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance or other means.
FDEM coordinates outreach, establishes Disaster Recovery Centers, and works in partnership with FEMA and other agencies to ensure that affected residents and businesses are informed and able to access the assistance for which they are eligible.
