Description
The Royal Academy of Engineering’s Industrial Fellowships enable mid-career academics and industrialists to undertake collaborative engineering research through secondments in either direction between industry and academia. Funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, the scheme supports new and existing partnerships across all engineering disciplines. Its goals are to strengthen strategic relationships, develop corporate and personal links, improve knowledge transfer and generate use-inspired impact.
Projects focus on industrial research, research and development, and innovation. Academics can address research questions with real-world applications and use their industrial experience to improve teaching and student learning. Industrial partners can develop new techniques or technologies and extend their research capabilities. Fellows also receive training, networking opportunities and membership of the Awardee Excellence Community, with Academy Fellow mentoring for awards exceeding 12 months.
