    Description

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the NIH, is planning to support a cooperative network designed to rapidly implement clinical trials that address NIH and NIAID priorities in infectious diseases. This initiative will establish a network composed of Clinical Trial Evaluation Units (CTEUs) and a Network Coordination Center (NCC).

The network's mission is to evaluate therapeutics, vaccines, biologics, diagnostics, and devices for both emerging and chronic infectious diseases. The CTEUs will provide the clinical infrastructure required for these trials, while the NCC will offer administrative and organizational support, foster innovation, and mentor future clinical trial leaders. This mechanism allows for swift responses to urgent public health needs that cannot be addressed through standard grant timelines.
