Description
Mayo Clinic’s one-year Infectious Diseases Transplant Fellowship in Rochester, Minnesota, prepares physicians with prior general infectious diseases training for careers in transplantation medicine in group practices or academic centers. Fellows develop expertise in common and opportunistic infections associated with solid organ, bone marrow, and peripheral blood stem cell transplantation through inpatient and outpatient care.
The program combines multidisciplinary clinical training with clinical, translational, and basic science research opportunities. Clinical priorities include pre-transplant infection risk assessment, prevention strategies, and infection management before, during, and after transplantation. Fellows undertake a faculty-supervised clinical or basic science research project, with protected research time and additional research training available to interested fellows.
