Summary: Supports innovative geoscience research using continental scientific drilling to study Earth processes, geohazards, georesources, and environmental change.
The Infrastructure Priority Programme “International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP)” (SPP 1006) funds cutting-edge research in the geosciences that utilizes continental scientific drilling. The program addresses key scientific questions related to deep-time Earth processes, geodynamics, geohazards, georesources, and environmental change. Research supported includes the analysis of ICDP drilling data and samples, basic research on core material, development and preparation of drilling projects, pre-site surveys, and the development and use of advanced drilling devices and logging tools. The program also encourages land-to-sea drilling campaigns and fosters collaboration and networking through annual colloquia.
