Description
The Infrastructure Priority Programme “International Continental Scientific Drilling Program (ICDP)” (SPP 1006), funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), aims to advance geoscientific research by supporting projects that utilize continental scientific drilling. The programme addresses major questions in geodynamics, geohazards, georesources, and environmental change, as outlined in the ICDP Science Plan 2020–2030. It encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and networking, especially through the annual ICDP/IODP colloquium.
Eligible projects may use ICDP drilling data, analyze core material, develop or prepare new drilling projects, conduct pre-site surveys, and work on innovative drilling and measurement techniques. A strong emphasis is placed on projects connected to past, ongoing, or planned ICDP drilling campaigns, including land-to-sea drilling and long-term experimental research.
