This program supports projects that establish or enhance infrastructures for scholarly publishing in the digital era, with the aim of enabling global, barrier-free dissemination of research results. Funding is available for three main focus areas: (1) facilitating the transition to open access (including standardization, consulting, and networking), (2) developing quality-assured national publication platforms, and (3) advancing digital publishing techniques and tools. The program also supports launching or converting individual journals to open access, and encourages projects that address technical, legal, financial, and organizational barriers to open scholarly communication.
