Description
The German Research Foundation (DFG) supports the initiation of international research collaboration by helping researchers establish scientific relationships with partners abroad. The programme funds preparatory activities through three components: Exploratory Workshops, Project-related Trips Abroad, and Project-related Guest Visits. Its focus is on developing cooperation rather than carrying out joint research projects.
Researchers may combine components within a short time frame when this makes preparations for cooperation particularly effective. Where agreements exist, activities may also receive joint funding from partner organisations abroad. International conferences, the implementation of joint research projects, and meetings of research networks fall outside this programme and are supported through separate DFG funding instruments.
