Description
The Wildlife Conservation Board’s Inland Wetlands Conservation Program helps the Central Valley Joint Venture protect, restore, and enhance wetlands and associated habitats. Guided by the joint venture’s Implementation Plan, the program supports conservation work intended to increase populations of waterfowl, shorebirds, waterbirds, riparian and grassland-oak savannah landbirds, and at-risk bird species.
The program can support acquisition of land or water for wetlands or wildlife-friendly agriculture, acquisition of conservation easements, restoration of public or private lands, and enhancement of degraded habitats. Its jurisdiction includes most of the Central Valley watershed, with a primary focus on the valley floor from Red Bluff to Bakersfield.
