Description

This grant supports collaborative research and innovation projects aimed at developing, validating, and implementing novel healthcare interventions to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), specifically cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, and chronic kidney diseases. Funded projects must conduct rigorous early-stage clinical trials (e.g., phase 1/2 for pharmacological interventions), leveraging advanced technologies such as AI and wearable devices for long-term monitoring and real-world data collection. Proposals are expected to integrate digital tools, address sex and gender differences, ensure inclusivity, and perform health-economic and real-world data analyses to enhance sustainability and scalability. Engagement with all relevant stakeholders—including patients, caregivers, clinicians, public health authorities, and regulators—is mandatory. Projects must include social sciences and humanities (SSH) expertise to maximize societal impact, and the participation of start-ups and SMEs is encouraged. All projects are expected to contribute to the European Health Data Space and foster knowledge sharing and best practices across the EU.
