Description
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) administers Innovative Maternal Care under Virginia’s Rural Health Transformation Program. It supports community-driven approaches to improving access to prenatal, postpartum, and other maternal healthcare services in rural Virginia, with the aim of strengthening rural health systems and improving outcomes.
Projects may establish maternal health access hubs, develop prenatal and postpartum care models, or use mobile and technology-enabled care. Other approaches include behavioral health and substance use supports, transportation and access solutions, community health workers and doulas, care coordination, workforce development, and regional partnerships. VDH welcomes collaboration to strengthen rural care delivery.
