Description

This Horizon Europe Innovation Action supports the development and demonstration of innovative approaches for the sustainable and beautiful use of under-used or unused vertical spaces above buildings and streets in urban environments. The aim is to enable more efficient use of the built environment by providing green spaces and/or affordable housing, while limiting land consumption and contributing to urban greening and regeneration goals.

Projects must:

• Develop and demonstrate at least one innovative solution for vertical space use that is sustainable, beautiful, and enhances housing affordability and/or green space availability.
• Integrate circularity principles and assess lifecycle environmental, social, and economic impacts.
• Address and mitigate potential negative effects such as excessive densification.
• Identify and propose solutions to regulatory, technical, and societal barriers.
• Follow participatory and transdisciplinary approaches, involving local communities and relevant industries.
• Contribute to the urban greening objectives set out in the EU Nature Restoration Regulation.
• Engage with the Horizon Europe-funded 'New European Bauhaus hub for results and impact' (minimum 0.8% of project budget).

International cooperation and the integration of social sciences and humanities (SSH) are strongly encouraged to maximize societal impact.
