Description
This Horizon Europe call, under the Zero Emission Waterborne Transport (ZEWT) Partnership, supports research and innovation actions (RIA) that evaluate, forecast, control, and mitigate the environmental impacts of waterborne transport on marine and other aquatic ecosystems. The focus is on the environmental effects of renewable low and zero-carbon fuels, including both operational pollution and accidental spills.
Projects should develop and demonstrate innovative abatement and mitigation systems and strategies, including effective emergency response scenarios, new equipment, and procedures for managing spills. Proposals must also address the modeling of pollution scenarios, cost-effective solutions for pollution prevention, stakeholder engagement, training needs, and strengthening environmental responsibility in the waterborne transport sector. All activities should align with EU environmental strategies such as the European Water Resilience Strategy and the European Ocean Pact.
