Description
This funding opportunity from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) aims to support the development, demonstration, and evaluation of innovative traffic safety enforcement programs that reduce motor vehicle crashes caused by risky driving behaviors. The program encourages evidence-based, scalable, and repeatable interventions that can be adopted by law enforcement agencies across the United States. Targeted focus areas include drug- or alcohol-impaired driving, speeding, aggressive driving, occupant protection, distracted driving, and careless or negligent driving (including in work zones, near commercial vehicles, and in school zones).
NHTSA seeks projects that may include new research, development, demonstration, training, education, or enhancements to existing countermeasures. Approaches leveraging data analytics, predictive modeling, spatial/temporal deployment strategies, and artificial intelligence are encouraged, provided their use is clearly described. The ultimate goal is to advance national traffic safety priorities and reduce fatalities and serious injuries on U.S. roadways.
