SSHRC’s Insight Grants provide stable, multi-year support for research excellence in the social sciences and humanities. The program supports emerging and established scholars investigating complex issues about individuals and societies, advancing knowledge and collective understanding. Research may be undertaken by an individual researcher or a collaborative team, and SSHRC welcomes Indigenous research and research-creation proposals.
Applicants select one of two funding streams according to the amount requested. Both streams use the same application process and merit review committees, with equally rigorous assessment, although Stream A has a higher targeted success rate. Projects must respond to the objectives of SSHRC’s Insight Research program.
