    Description

The Indiana Science Policy: Educate, Collaborate, Transform (INSPECT) Fellowship is hosted by the Indiana Academy of Science. It connects the scientific community with state government and trains graduate students to serve as effective, nonpartisan science advisors. Through a 10-week summer placement in an Indiana executive agency, fellows work alongside government personnel to inform state and local decisions supporting Indiana communities’ long-term health, sustainability, and economic growth.

Placements span earth and life sciences, agriculture and conservation, education and workforce, public health, technology and engineering, energy and transportation, and economics and finance. Work can include research, data analysis, policy development, scientific outreach, and preparation of technical information for decision-makers. The program includes orientation and training, host-agency mentorship, and a concluding reception. Host-office matching depends on mutual interest and availability.
