Description
The Advancing Girls Fund at Tides brings donors together to support adolescent girls and young women of color and their allies as leaders and changemakers. Following the transition of NoVo Foundation’s Adolescent Girls Grantmaking Initiative to Tides in 2020, the fund launched an intersectional grantmaking strategy in 2022, informed by grantee partners. It supports girl-led change in the U.S. and Global South, centering young people’s perspectives in resource distribution and programmatic investments.
The fund invests in direct services and long-term systems change in parallel, addressing disparities at the intersections of race, gender, and socioeconomic inequality. Supported work includes advocacy, organizing, policy change, narrative change, and spaces for healing, learning, and relationship-building. Its approach emphasizes self-determined gender, community-rooted leadership, lived expertise, and collaboration across geographies and cultures.
