The Institutional Development Scheme (IDS) Research Infrastructure Grant is designed to strengthen the research capacity of local self-financing degree-awarding institutions in Hong Kong. The grant aims to support the establishment of new research centres or the enhancement of existing centres that are strategically important to the institution. Proposals must align with the institution’s strategic development plan and demonstrate how the funding will enrich academic rigor and expand research portfolios. Funding covers direct costs for research infrastructure (e.g., equipment, materials) and activities such as seminars, workshops, conferences, and exchange programmes. Collaboration and integration among research centres are encouraged to maximize research impact.
