Description
UCSF’s Institutional Matching Instrumentation Award provides matching funds for shared research equipment supported by extramural or internal funding. Administered through the Resource Allocation Program and Research Resource Program (RRP), it can complement NIH Shared Instrumentation Grants, High-End Instrumentation Grants, Howard Hughes Medical Institute funds, or UCSF departmental funding. Support may cover equipment purchases and essential personnel or maintenance during instrument validation.
The program promotes cost effectiveness, sharing across investigators and departments, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Equipment must be managed within a UCSF Campus Core. Priorities include demonstrated scientific need among funded investigators, access to technology not otherwise available on campus, and additional capacity where existing equipment is insufficient. Proposals must explain how shared purchase funding, equipment access, operations, and long-term financial sustainability will be managed.
