Description
This program supports the acquisition of shared research equipment by providing institutional matching funds to UCSF Campus Cores. The goal is to enhance cost-effective equipment sharing, encourage collaboration among investigators and departments, and foster a multidisciplinary research environment. Funding is intended to complement extramural or internal sources—such as NIH Shared Instrumentation or High-End Instrumentation grants, Howard Hughes Medical Institute funds, or UCSF departmental support. Awarded equipment must be managed by a UCSF Campus Core that is certified and implementing the UCSF Core Management System (iLab). Funds may be used for equipment purchase, essential personnel, or maintenance costs during the validation period. All awards require matching funds and must be expended within three years.
