Description
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) runs the Intercity Bus Program through its Office of Passenger Transportation. The program supports the facilities, service, and vehicles that make up Michigan’s intercity passenger transportation network.
Its terminal work constructs or rehabilitates passenger terminals in more than 20 Michigan communities. The Intercity Service Program sustains five subsidized Northern Michigan routes that connect rural residents with urban centers and the national transportation network; these routes are bid out every three years. The capital program funds buses used on Michigan’s intercity routes and replaces them when they meet federal useful-life criteria.
