Key Information: Applicants must be active, current Society members with at least one year of membership before requesting funds.
The Society for Mathematical Biology’s International Grants promote and facilitate the organization of and attendance at mathematical biology meetings and courses in countries experiencing financial need. Administered by the Society’s Board of Directors, the program supports workshops and meetings organized by Society members in countries in need, or in nearby countries where funding helps students from financially constrained countries attend.
The program places student and early-career researcher participation at the center of its priorities: funds must preferentially support their travel. Review considers the event’s significance, the practical character of courses, the organization of the mathematical biology program, and the proposed speakers. Student participation, the balance of international and local speakers, matching funds, and the location and facilities also inform funding decisions.
