Description
The Minnesota Department of Health’s Office of Rural Health and Primary Care (ORHPC) administers this grant to help immigrant international medical graduates (IMGs) enter Minnesota’s health workforce. It funds eligible organizations to provide physician and non-physician health care career guidance and support, recognizing multiple pathways into health care employment and the barriers IMGs face in becoming licensed and practicing medicine in Minnesota.
The program aims to strengthen the state’s health care workforce, expand access to care, support healthy communities, and provide culturally responsive care to underserved populations. It is authorized by Minnesota Statutes Section 144.1911, subdivision 4, and was updated during the 2024 legislative session.
