The International Studies Association’s Research Workshop Grants program brings small groups of scholars together to explore significant problems in International Studies and its subfields. Created in 1992, it supports interdisciplinary research, cross-national inquiry, and new and diverse perspectives. The program also gives members, including early-career scholars, experience developing collaborative projects and seeking further funding.
The program supports in-person and virtual workshops. It encourages international, interdisciplinary teams involving early-career scholars, doctoral students, and colleagues from diverse communities and regions, including the Global South. Expected outcomes include scholarly publications, teaching contributions, larger grant proposals, and publicly engaged products such as blogs, podcasts, policy memos, and white papers. The 2027 call welcomes both new and continuing projects.
