The International Studies Association’s travel grants help junior scholars, senior graduate students, and scholars from low-income countries attend conferences that might otherwise be financially out of reach. The grants support conference participation rather than a separate research project. They supplement other funding and are not intended to cover all attendance costs.
ISA’s Annual Convention hosts its largest travel grant program. The association also supports travel to international conferences it co-sponsors and lists a travel grant program for its 2027 Mid-Year Conference in Iceland. The Executive Director administers the program under a budget determined by ISA’s Governing Council. Policies for Region, Section, and Caucus conferences may differ, so applicants should consult the relevant conference website.
