Description
The International Travel Award Scheme for the Biological Sciences is run by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), part of UK Research and Innovation. It supports existing BBSRC-funded researchers in developing international contacts that add value to current or future UK bioscience. Awards cover short overseas visits to initiate collaborations, discuss international programmes and prepare joint funding proposals.
Visits may also enable access to facilities unavailable in the UK, undertaking a piece of work, or gaining access to techniques and materials that benefit a BBSRC research project or team. Attendance at European consortia-building events is supported to explore a future consortium role. Priorities include the collaboration’s benefits, strategic relevance and reach, and a clear plan for continuing the partnership after funding ends.
