Description
The Internship Grant is offered by the Rhode Island Science and Technology Advisory Council through the Innovate Rhode Island Small Business Fund (IRISBF), also called the Innovate RI Fund. It helps Rhode Island small businesses in the life sciences and engineering sectors offset the costs of providing student internships and mentoring. These experiences allow students to explore career possibilities, gain hands-on experience, and meet industry professionals in their field of study, while helping companies develop their workforce.
Created by the Rhode Island General Assembly in 2013, the broader fund aims to foster job creation, facilitate small business development, and strengthen the workforce pipeline. Its priorities include supporting local entrepreneurs and high-growth start-ups and enhancing the talent pipeline in life sciences and engineering.
