    Description

The Intuitive Foundation’s Bronchoscopy Research Grant supports clinical research at nonprofit institutions worldwide examining how robotic-assisted bronchoscopy affects care for patients with pulmonary disease. Proposals should address important questions about diagnosis, disease management, or patient outcomes. Research interests include comparisons with alternative modalities or therapies, time to diagnosis, procedures needed, tissue acquisition and molecular markers, benign lung disease diagnosis, procedural efficiency, diagnostic yield, and adverse events.

Other interests include advanced imaging and navigation, health economics and outcomes, and procedures combining robotic-assisted bronchoscopy with emerging technologies. Examples include cone-beam CT, radial endobronchial ultrasound, fluoroscopic tomography, care costs, quality of life, patient- and clinician-reported outcomes, and ergonomic effects. These areas are encouraged rather than mandatory. For health-economic research, the Foundation strongly recommends including a health economist and identifying them in the application’s capabilities section.
