Summary: Supports fellowship programs providing clinical training and research in robotic-assisted bronchoscopy to prepare fellows for independent practice.
Key Information: Institutions must apply through the fellowship director or an authorized representative; applications from fellows are not accepted.
The Intuitive Foundation’s annual Robotic Bronchoscopy Fellowship Grant program supports non-profit institutions, programs, and organizations offering advanced clinical experience after conventional fellowship training. Supported fellowships combine basic bronchoscopic skills with lung cancer-directed training, experience in staging, and clinical research in robotic-assisted bronchoscopy. Programs in interventional pulmonology, pulmonary medicine, and thoracic surgery are strongly encouraged to apply.
The program’s central goal is to prepare fellows to transition to independent practice as robotic bronchoscopists. It emphasizes adequate clinical robotic volume, research opportunities, mentoring, and a structured curriculum with clear goals, objectives, and methods for evaluating proficiency. Grants are awarded competitively and support fellow salary and benefits during the proposed fellowship year.
