The Intuitive Foundation’s annual Robotic Surgery Fellowship grant program supports non-profit institutions, programs, and organizations providing clinical training after completion of a conventional medical residency. Fellowships focus on robotic-assisted operative techniques and perioperative management within a surgical specialty, with some time devoted to clinical research. Colorectal, general surgery, and thoracic programs are strongly encouraged to apply; specialty-focused experiences may also include bariatric surgery.
The program emphasizes the transition to independent practice through operative experience, mentoring, a structured curriculum, and evaluation of surgical proficiency. Funding is available through fellowship programs applying via their directors, or through societies and organizations that fund accredited minimally invasive surgery fellowships that may include robotic surgery.
