The AAFPRS Foundation’s Investigator Development Grant is a career development award endowed by Leslie Bernstein, MD, DDS. It supports young faculty members in facial plastic surgery conducting significant clinical or laboratory research while participating in the research training of resident surgeons. Funded work must advance knowledge of the theory, techniques, and application of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
The program encourages interdisciplinary methods and collaboration with related specialties. Projects must produce useful information during the award period, with priority given to innovative work that could develop into longer-term or expanded research programs capable of attracting other funding. Research areas identified as strategically important by the AAFPRS Board of Directors or Research Committee may receive additional consideration.
