Key Information: Applicants must be Canadian citizens and continuing PhD students.
The IODE War Memorial Scholarship is listed among the graduate funding opportunities offered through UBC Okanagan’s College of Graduate Studies. The National Chapter of Canada IODE initiated the War Memorial Doctoral Scholarships in 1918 to commemorate Canadians who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom. The scholarship carries that memorial purpose forward through support for doctoral study.
The program initially provided bursaries to children of men and women who died or became permanently disabled while fighting for Canada. The first scholarships were awarded in 1921. Since then, IODE War Memorial Scholars have contributed to Canada and the wider world in medicine, science, business, politics, and academia.
