Description
The Institute of Physics (IOP) recommends scholars for Department for Education funding to help address the shortage of physics teachers in England. The scholarship supports people preparing to teach secondary-school physics, including undergraduates, recent graduates, postgraduates and career changers.
Alongside financial support, scholars can develop their teaching through online and face-to-face professional development workshops, subject-specific mentoring during training and support in their early teaching years. They receive IOP membership benefits during their training year, access to physics teaching resources and a community of fellow scholars. The programme also offers support for teaching in low socioeconomic areas.
