The Iowa LTAP Work Zone Sign Package Program, supported by the Iowa Department of Transportation, aims to enhance work zone safety for operations personnel and motorists in small Iowa cities. The program provides selected cities (with populations under 10,000) with a set of work zone signs and safety equipment that comply with the latest 2023 MUTCD standards. The package typically includes signs such as "One Lane Road Ahead," "Road Work Ahead," "Be Prepared to Stop," as well as barricades, traffic cones, safety vests, sign stands, and channelizers—each designed for lower-speed city streets and equipped with high-intensity retro-reflective sheeting for nighttime visibility.
