Description
The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) offers this year-round program to support medical students and interns from groups underrepresented in medicine who present accepted interventional radiology (IR) abstracts at national medical conferences. The stipend assists with conference travel rather than funding the research itself, helping participants share scholarly work in settings where IR can reach a new audience.
The program gives preference to abstracts directly related to IR practice and those advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in medicine, including work to understand or reduce specific health disparities. Eligible conferences provide opportunities to present scholarly work, participate in student-focused programming or engage with a national medical student audience. The program is brought forward by SIR’s Coalition for Culture Transformation and the Advancement of Opportunity (CCTAO).
