Description
The Irving Langmuir Award in Chemical Physics recognizes and encourages outstanding interdisciplinary research in chemistry and physics in the spirit of Irving Langmuir. It honors contributions to chemical physics or physical chemistry, with an emphasis on work that advances the scientific field through innovative approaches. Eligible recipient groups include faculty, industry researchers, chemistry professionals, and international researchers.
The American Chemical Society presents the award in even-numbered years, while the American Physical Society presents it in odd-numbered years. The current ACS nomination window is for the 2028 award. Established by the General Electric Foundation in 1964, the award has been jointly sponsored by The Journal of Chemical Physics and the ACS Division of Physical Chemistry since 2020.
