Description
The American Chemical Society awards this two-year fellowship every two years to support a scientist beginning postdoctoral research at the interface of chemistry and biology. The fellow may conduct the research at one or more nonprofit institutions in any country.
Established in 1995 by Dr. Catherine T. Sigal in memory of her husband, biochemist Irving S. Sigal, the fellowship carries forward his focus on questions connecting chemistry and biology. His work used site-directed mutagenesis to investigate how proteins function and contributed to research on ras, the β-adrenergic receptor, and HIV protease.
