Description
UK Research and Innovation’s Gateway route provides flexible access to the Isambard-AI and Dawn AI Research Resource (AIRR) supercomputers. It supports UK-based researchers across academia, industry, charities and not-for-profit organisations, including first-time users of AI supercomputing. Projects can explore developing AI research, test novel algorithms, code and workflows, or benchmark them before seeking larger AIRR opportunities. The route provides computational resources rather than financial funding.
Supported work includes novel algorithms and software tools, AI-assisted experimental optimisation, enhanced simulations, hypothesis generation, and AI-driven data collection, curation and synthetic data creation. Priorities include performance, scalability, robustness and responsible AI. UKRI particularly welcomes projects contributing to the government’s six missions and the modern Industrial Strategy’s eight sectors.
