    Description

The International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), supported by an educational grant from Abbott, funds research advancing myocardial recovery in patients with advanced heart failure and those receiving mechanical circulatory support. The program aims to improve prediction of recovery potential, assessment of recovery, and the durability of long-term outcomes.

Proposed research should address one or both priority areas: predictive modeling and precision recovery, or recovery assessment and longitudinal care. Supported approaches include artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital health, and data science to predict recovery, monitor trajectories, and personalize treatment. Research may also develop novel clinical, functional, hemodynamic, imaging, and patient-reported measures, or evaluate longitudinal care pathways, monitoring strategies, and implementation approaches that sustain recovery.
