Funding Amounts: USD 48,000 over six years, subject to competitive progression through three levels
Summary: Supports educational partnerships that establish or strengthen kidney transplant programs in low-resource areas.
Key Information: Each participating center must designate an ISN or TTS full member as liaison throughout the partnership.
The ISN-TTS Sister Transplant Centers program is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology and The Transplantation Society. It connects new or developing kidney transplant centers in low-resource areas with experienced centers for multidisciplinary training, knowledge exchange, and service development. Supported activities include training visits, remote education, workshops, and capacity-building projects that help Emerging Centers become independent and self-sufficient.
Partnerships enter at Level C and may compete for progression through Levels B and A, with two years at each level. The program emphasizes sustainable educational collaboration rather than research funding. Graduated partnerships are encouraged to support another center in their region through a trio arrangement, extending training and expertise beyond the original partnership.
