Fundamental Research Career Development Award supports early-career scientists’ basic and translational research in thrombosis and hemostasis to strengthen fundamental science and establish their careers.
Funder: International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis
Due Dates (Anticipated): March 2027 (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: Up to three annual awards of up to US$50,000 each
Summary: Supports early-career scientists undertaking basic and translational research in thrombosis and hemostasis.
Key Information: Applicants must be current ISTH members within 3–8 years of their Ph.D. at the application period’s start.
The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) established this award to strengthen fundamental research and help establish the careers of the next generation of scientists in thrombosis and hemostasis. It supports basic and/or translational science, reflecting the Society’s mission to advance understanding, prevention and treatment of conditions in these fields.
The program recognizes early-career researchers with demonstrated research excellence through their publication records. Its scientific priorities span fundamental mechanisms of thrombosis, fundamental mechanisms of hemostasis, and non-canonical interactions of the hemostatic system. Funding can support research materials, staffing and administrative expenses. Recipients are invited to present their research and discuss the award’s impact at future ISTH Congresses.
