The IUBMB Education Fellowships, formerly known as Tang Education, support the development of educators and educational programs in biochemistry and molecular biology. Universities and departments can invite experienced educators to their institutions, while individual educators can visit institutions to learn or develop teaching practices and methodologies. Both routes require a specific educational or pedagogical outcome.
The program aims to increase educational expertise, promote innovative teaching approaches, and improve student learning experiences, outcomes, and engagement. It also seeks to build an evidence base for future recommendations on biochemistry and molecular biology education, support education in developing countries, and broadly support engaged educators. Fellowships support visits rather than attendance at courses or scientific meetings.
