Summary: Supports African PhD students and early-career researchers visiting FEBS-country laboratories to develop molecular life sciences expertise and collaborations.
Key Information: Applicants must reside in FASBMB member countries and hold FASBMB affiliation through their national societies.
PROBio-Africa is a joint fellowship programme of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB), the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS), and the Federation of African Societies of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (FASBMB). It supports research visits to established laboratories in FEBS countries—countries in Europe and neighbouring regions with a FEBS Constituent Society.
The programme enables doctoral thesis research, experiments requiring specialist techniques or expertise, scientific collaboration, and advanced training. By providing access to technologies and supportive research environments unavailable at home, it aims to strengthen researchers’ skills and build molecular life sciences capacity at African institutions. Its long-term goal is sustained cooperation among the partner organisations, benefiting their members, trainees, and science.
