Description
The James Davis Scholarship is funded and administered by Rare Book School (RBS), based at the University of Virginia. It recognizes an applicant with an especially strong record of good citizenship and stewardship in the bibliographical community who has not previously attended RBS. The award supports participation in the school’s courses rather than a separate research project.
RBS provides continuing education in the history of written, printed, and digital materials, bringing together students from different disciplines and skill levels with scholars and professionals. The scholarship connects access to this bibliographical and book-historical education with recognition of responsible participation in the community. Supported coursework may be in person or online, subject to the shared RBS scholarship terms.
