Established in 2008, the James T. Lubin Clinician Scientist Fellowship Award is run by the Siegel Rare Neuroimmune Association (SRNA). It supports post-residency training focused on rare neuroimmune disorders of the central nervous system, including acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), acute flaccid myelitis (AFM), MOG antibody disease (MOGAD), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), optic neuritis (ON), and transverse myelitis (TM).
The program combines clinical care and research training, preparing fellows to use current scientific tools to treat these conditions and advance knowledge through clinical and/or basic science research. Its goals include comprehensive, state-of-the-art patient care and developing future leaders capable of directing research programs within their clinical departments. The fellowship honors Jim Lubin, a founding association member whose digital work connected and supported people affected by these disorders.
