Description
The Janesville Education Foundation is a component fund of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin that supports educational opportunities for children attending Janesville public schools. Supported by gifts from individuals and businesses, it makes grants primarily for innovative proposals that enrich classroom curriculum. Private charitable resources support educational programming beyond what is typically funded by tax dollars, with the goal of helping every student succeed in their chosen field.
The foundation has a special interest in pilot projects, model programs, and experimental efforts that actively involve students and can eventually continue through other funding sources. Programs must demonstrate need and potential for effectiveness and impact. A community volunteer advisory board leads fundraising and determines annual grant awards independently of school district oversight.
