Description
The Japan Foundation supports a wide range of activities essential to spreading the Japanese language and developing Japanese-language education overseas. The program focuses on teachers and students at overseas Japanese-language institutions and organizations, including teachers’ associations and academic societies. Its headquarters-administered grants serve countries and regions that cannot easily access support from the Foundation’s overseas offices.
Support includes student activities, teacher and network-staff salaries, teaching materials, professional conferences, publications, and original proposals promoting Japanese-language education or teacher training. Organizations may combine project types to meet their needs. Projects must be noncommercial and must not serve religious or political purposes. Selection considers the applicant’s local role, expected outcomes, cooperation, feasibility, other funding, regional impact, and safety.
