Description
The Jean Perkins Foundation Veteran Scholarship supports undergraduate student veterans at the University of Texas at Austin as they pursue their academic and professional goals. Funded by the Jean Perkins Foundation, the scholarship provides annual assistance to the Longhorn student veteran community and reflects the foundation’s commitment to helping veterans and their families realize their educational and career aspirations.
The first scholarships were awarded at UT Austin in 2011. Since then, the foundation has provided more than $3.5 million to support the university’s student veterans. The scholarship’s origins reflect the wishes of Jean Perkins Stuart, heir to the Carnation Company, who wanted her estate to support causes including veterans and medical research.
