Description
The American Center of Research (ACOR) established this endowed fellowship in April 2025 to improve access to future graduate-level study in Europe or the Americas. It helps Jordanians and residents of Jordan strengthen their academic preparation and qualifications through English-language courses, preparation for required standardized tests, and taking those tests. Recipients also receive support from ACOR staff.
The fellowship gives preference to applicants studying archaeology, history, or fields related to Jordan’s cultural heritage. It honors Jennifer C. Groot, a field archaeologist and teacher who contributed to excavations and scholarship in Jordan between 1974 and 1987. While the original fellowship in her name supports archaeological fieldwork, the Groot II fellowship focuses on preparation for further study.
