Key Information: Fellows must live in Minnesota and actively participate, with no more than 10 weeks away annually; housing and relocation travel are not provided.
Playwrights’ Center’s Jerome Fellowships, offered in partnership with the Jerome Foundation, support early-career playwrights demonstrating extraordinary potential and artistic vision. The two-year professional development residency combines time to write with customized resources for developing craft, expanding a body of work, and advancing a playwriting career.
Fellows work individually and in a cohort with the Center’s artistic staff, developing plays and connecting with producers of new work. Support includes workshops with professional collaborators, consultations with experienced artists, career guidance, and teaching and community-engagement opportunities. The program emphasizes process, experimentation, and participation in the Twin Cities artistic community rather than funding a single proposed play. At the end of the fellowship, participants become Affiliated Writers of Playwrights’ Center.
