The Jessup Awards support students undertaking postgraduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral studies at The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. Awards are made competitively for research conducted under the supervision or sponsorship of a member of the Academy’s curatorial staff. Studies may address any specialty in which the participating curators have expertise, rather than a single prescribed research topic.
Administered through the Jessup-McHenry Fund Committee, the awards provide support for research visits at the Academy. Negotiable costs include round-trip travel, lodging, scientific supplies, and equipment. The program also emphasizes sharing the research undertaken during a visit: recipients are expected to give a seminar after arrival and are encouraged to publish work accomplished at the Academy.
