This award recognizes and supports innovative graduate research that addresses challenges in the Arctic or cold ocean environments. It is designed to encourage and reward research that provides solutions to problems encountered in these regions, including but not limited to marine transportation, offshore resource development, ecosystem interactions, and climate change impacts. The award is presented by the University of British Columbia in collaboration with the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Arctic Section, in honor of John W. Davies.
